The Supreme Court appears ready to reconsider a request to review hundreds of Luzerne County juvenile court cases in the wake of charges that two former judges accepted kickbacks from the owners of a private juvenile detention center.
The court, on Jan. 8, denied a petition by the Philadelphia-based Juvenile Law Center to look at more than 250 cases in which juvenile offenders were allegedly adjudicated and sent to detention centers without lawyers.
Later, the justices issued a one-line order vacating their previous denial of that petition, pending further action by the court.
Bob Schwartz, JLC's executive director: "We see this as a very positive sign that the court is going to take a fresh look at our application for relief."

It's no surprise the court denied the petition to look at the cases and it had to go to the Supreme Court.
With the news all abuzz about the corruption, you'd think every case the bad judges touched should be reviewed.
Why would a judge knowingly and willingly violate the law?
Because he gets KICKBACKS!
Many states that have funding problems outsource adult criminals, also. That is the case here in Greeley, Colo.
SAME SITUATION WITH ADULTS ALSO.
They are peddled as prison alternatives, but have been found to have problems internally and fraught with complaints. But they are money makers that solve the state's overflow problem, so it is accepted.
What dirty secrets are hiding in these casefiles?Review and audits should be procedure - only way to see what is really going on.
Every guardianship case in Luzerne County during the tenure of the two judges soon to go to jail should be reviewed.
I agree with the above commenters. All cases should be reviewed. All assets of these perps should be seized and put into a fund for the victims. Spending years in prison sends a strong message to other unscupulous Judges and court appointed 'stranger' guardians that you will be held accountable for abusing your wards and profiteering off their vulnerability.
Strong, harsh punishment with seizure of all personal property and assets etc of the perps is the only way to get justice.
This united force will start to get the message out and shout loud enough to be heard.
Might sound strong, but I like the idea of branding these people on their foreheads so if and when they are released from their cages and hit the streets they can't hid, we will know FINANCIAL PREDATOR and then give us an opportunity to run the other way.
