Son Fights to Bury Mother

Timothy Adkins wants nothing more than to lay his mother to rest. However, he cannot get to the body. He says he was betrayed by a long time family employee.

Adkins says after his father died in 2007, he relocated from Lynchburg to be care for his ailing mother. That's when he realized the employee had obtained power of attorney. He worked to get it revoked.

"The power of attorney was not even my mother," Adkins said. "It said Priscilla Adkins. My mother is Cilla, not Priscilla."

Cilla Adkins died last week after a long battle with kidney failure and dementia. When her only son was making funeral arrangements, he discovered she was removed from the hospital and taken to Mason Funeral Home on Good Hope Road in Southeast.

A spokesperson from Virginia Hospital Center told 9NEWS NOW a notarized will and proper release authorization were presented: "We followed the policy explicitly."

However, Adkins believes the will was falsified and is fighting to get custody of his mother's body. He lost his battle in court Thursday. Now, he is hoping to find a lawyer to continue his fight to get his mother back.

Is it the Guardian Ghouls at work?

This is apppalling. Who presented the documents the hospital and why didn't the hospital at least notify the son that they had these documents and would have to act on them?

I feel awful for this son. It's bad enough when our parents pass, but to be treated this way is unexcusable.

Gee doesn't take rocket science to figure this one out.

Lets see, you have a son, a blood relative that relocates to take care of his aging Mother.

You have an "employee," that worked for the son's Mother, that keeps their mouth shut and does not disclose to the son or his Mother, he/she is poa and has control of the Mother's will, probably because the documents are forged ?

Then this employee who is not a blood relative without telling the son moves his Mother's body to another location..without notifying the son...Heartless!

Just by the employee's actions alone proves he is hiding something and is a predator. In my opinion, the employee assigned themself poa in secret, in the dark, behind closed doors without the Mothers knowledge. Only greedy creeps would do this to innocent victims and their family. Yet the son loses in court.
Who was the attorney and witness's that signed off on the documents ? the court needs to investigate, none of this makes any sense. Another scam on our Elders and their families !

Thank you NASGA for giving those who have been silenced a place to speak. Another case of.....

Inhumane cruel treatment for no valid reason what is the recourse here?

When will the fiduciaries and the court (the judges) be held responsible and accountable for their actions and inactions?

Keep up the fight Timothy Adkins you are not alone; you are your mother's voice she is so proud to have you as her son.

Bless you.

A son shouldn't have to fight to bury his mother. She's HIS mother. No one else should have any rights to her. It sounds like guardians were in the picture, just as you suspected, Anonymous.

This breaks my heart.
