CT Woman Charged for Violating Court Order by Taking Mother to Florida

A Stratford woman was formally charged with first-degree custodial interference for taking her 81-year-old mother from Milford to Florida in violation of a probate court order, police said.

Jeryl Gray, 56, was arraigned Friday in Milford Superior Court and held on $75,000 bond. She had been picked up on a Milford police-issued warrant in Florida on July 20. Her mother, Dolores, who was missing for more than three weeks, was found safe with her daughter. Milford police had issued a Silver Alert for Dolores.

Dolores Gray was taken into protective custody by Florida officials and transported back to Connecticut by her family.

[Jeryl] Gray has been involved in a lengthy dispute with her two brothers over the care and custody of her mother, who suffers from dementia, police said.

In December, the Milford/Orange Probate Court issued an order that Dolores Gray not be taken from the state of Connecticut and granted conservatorship to Dolores' son, who lives in Milford.

Police said that after a court-authorized visitation on July 3, Gray took her mother to West Palm Beach, Fla.

In a May hearing, Dolores Gray told the judge she is "tired of all the family stuff," and would like to stay in contact with all three of her children, as well as her only grandchild, who lives in Milford.

"This wouldn't be happening if their father was alive," Dolores Gray said, according to a Probate Court transcript. "I'm retired and I'd like to go back and forth between Milford and Florida, but I'm fed up with all this fighting going on."

Families should be mediating their disagreements before they get sucked into the Meat Grinder called Guardianship, which chews them up and spits them out!

Family feuds just feul the fiduciaries.

Very sad. Families need to have their tails glued to a seat at the table and stay at the table until they settle their differences.

Absolutely! If families don't work out their differences, they're fodder for the frenzied feasters!

The point the court, and the sons are missing is, "What does Delores Gray Want" !

Everyone needs to zip it and LISTEN to their Mother.

Clearly the Mother stated what she wants..

In a May hearing, Dolores Gray told the judge she is "tired of all the family stuff," and would like to stay in contact with ALL three of her children, as well as her only grandchild, who lives in Milford.

Dolores Gray "Said,"....

OKAY, case closed, give Dolores Gray what she wants,"Her Freedom" let the daughter go, drop the $75,000 bond, you know Delores doesn't want her daughter to suffer.

The son's need to understand their Mother is Not a prisoner but a Free American and as long as she's in safe hands, and apparently she is...because of her comments... if she wants to go to tin buck too with her daughter that's their Mother's choice.. Not theirs, she'll be back to visit them too.

Please remember if Delores has money her sons may have alterior motives as her conservators just saying....never know....

Always remember it's not always a "Family Squabble" Money is always the root of evil whether it's guardianship conservatorship, or even greedy family members.

All groups need to come to the table and the mediator should Only have the best interest of the person under guardianship or conservatorship..

In my opinion usually the ones who have control of the money are the ones making life miserable for the victim. Just saying...

Jeryl says " My mother and have been horrifically victimized by the Probate Court that she turned to for help against the "family member" and her former attorney, who together had transferred significant amounts of my mothers' multi- seven figure estate out of her control and into theirs. This predatory gang of profiteers has destroyed my mother's and my life, robbed my mother, when diagnosed as "capable and competent" of all of her assets, her contents of her home and all of her civil liberties. This case, beginning in Spring 2009, has been described by seasoned experts as "The Worst Case of Probate Abuse in CT" that they have ever seen. Stratford ProbateJudge Kurmay and Milford Streit-_Kefalas are both highly on activists and court watch lists as Bad Judges. The gang of their friends and cronies have been given total control and over my mother and her money and they have taken the bulk of her lifelong earning for themselves as "pay" for their services. Connecticut Probate is regarded as the most corrupt, most predatory of all fifty states in America. Look at this case as an example.
